Nicole Richie and her new little daughter Harlow are on the cover of People magazine this week. It hits the stands on Friday. They are really very cute. Nicole talks about how motherhood has changed her life, “She gives a whole new meaning and purpose”.

Nicole Richie had her baby at Cedars-Sinai earlier tonight. She and BabyDaddy Joel Madden are the proud parents of Harlow Winter Kate Madden, who weighed in at 6 lbs, 7 oz.

“The beautiful healthy baby girl left the hospital with her ecstatic parents,” says their rep. The birth was confirmed to People magazine exclusively.

Nichole Richie is at Cedars-Sinai in the maternity ward. They have to have a revolving door thing going there these days. It seems like every celebrity in Hollywood is either pregnant or has just given birth to their little celebrispawn. Nicole was due to deliver next week, but it looks like the baby might have had other ideas.

Paris Hilton is pictured here in her slip and pantyhose out shopping with her BFF, Nicole Richie. She had a great time in China. They just love here there. They loved her in Korea too.

Poor Paris. She hasn’t been in the tabloids so much since she decided to clean up her act and go around the world doing good instead of just pole dancing and showing her ass. She’s slipping back into the world she’s comfortable in.

Still, it gives us something to write about. What would we do if she actually visited some poverty stricken nation and tromped around in the mud helping under privileged children. Well, that could be interesting if she took a camera along.

Richie “speaks candidly about why this particular constellation of young female stars — Hilton, Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears, among others — have behaved badly so publicly.” She should know!

As for her upcoming stint in the slammer, Richie told Sawyer, “I have a responsibility and it’s something that I did wrong, and if I could personally apologize to every single person that has lost a loved one from drunk driving I would,” she said of her recent guilty plea. “And unfortunately I can’t, but this is my way of paying my dues and taking responsibility and being an adult.”

Nicole seems a little more mature than some of her peers in the ‘Hollywood bad-girl club’. Maybe she’s growing up a little. Of course, Paris said a lot of the right things prior to going into the slammer and all the while was plotting how she was going to get around having to do her time.

I guess the jury is still out on how decent a grown-up she’ll make.

The interview airs on “Good Morning America” Thursday and Friday and on “20/20? Friday night.

It seems that Nicole Richie might be on her way to getting a much better deal than her pal, Paris Hilton.

Plea Deal Possible in Richie DUI Case

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Nicole Richie will have to decide Wednesday whether to accept a plea deal offered by prosecutors in her driving-under-the-influence case, according to a court spokesman.

Richie was not required to attend the court hearing because she faces a misdemeanor charge. . . .

Terms of the deal were not made available and the district attorney’s office declined to comment. . . .

Richie, 25, was arrested early on Dec. 11 after witnesses reported seeing her SUV headed the wrong way on a freeway in Burbank. She allegedly failed a field sobriety test and authorities said she told them she had smoked marijuana and taken a prescription painkiller. No drugs were found on her or in the vehicle.

She pleaded not guilty in February to misdemeanor driving under the influence.

In addition to the single count, the case contains an allegation that Richie had a prior misdemeanor DUI conviction in June 2003.

The California Vehicle Code says that if convicted of DUI twice within 10 years, a person can be sentenced to between 90 days and a year in jail and have driving privileges suspended.

Her legal problems come amid reports that she is pregnant. Her publicist has not answered repeated telephone and e-mail messages from The Associated Press. Her case also comes on the heels of Paris Hilton’s June 26 release from jail. Hilton, Richie’s partying pal and co-star in TV’s “The Simple Life,” spent about 23 days in custody for violating probation in an alcohol-related reckless driving case.

Hilton’s case drew a firestorm of criticism, with some saying she received preferential treatment when she was initially given an early release to home confinement and others arguing the judge was too harsh and made Hilton an example by sending her to jail.

Some observers believe Richie could help herself by attending the trial. She also might want to avoid being late to court hearings - like Hilton was once.

“Anything that appears humble before the court is wise,” said Hollywood publicist Michael Levine. “I think there’s a backlash afoot because of the Hilton trial and anything to nullify it would be a good idea.”

Others believe Lubell will be unmoved by what happened in Hilton’s case and will follow the law accordingly.

“I think it’s going to be in the back of his mind,” said defense attorney Mark Geragos, who has represented Winona Ryder and Michael Jackson. “But if it’s a second DUI offense, it usually carries a mandatory amount of jail time.”

Guess we’ll see how she fares with the legal system. I wonder if she’ll cry for her mommy if she’s put in jail?

Nicole Richie still hasn’t confirmed that she is pregnant, however there has been tons of speculation and anonymous sources close to Richie that are saying she is, indeed, preggers.

We assume current b-f Joel Madden is the baby daddy.

TMZ says being with child will not make one spits worth of difference in her upcoming trail and sentencing. Her trial for her second DUI offense starts next Wednesday.

I don’t know why she is being coy. Maybe because it’s really not anyone else’s business. But hey, when did that stop the gossip from flowing? Stay tuned. I’m sure there’ll be more to come on this mystery.

TMZ has independently confirmed that Nicole Richie is pregnant.

The starlet has been dating Good Charlotte frontman Joel Madden for over six months. Rumors have been swirling for months that Richie and Madden were expecting, but TMZ has confirmed through several sources that she is, in fact, with child. In Touch magazine is also reporting that the couple will wed this summer. Richie is currently facing DUI charges stemming from her arrest last December, when she was found driving the wrong way on a California highway.

Richie’s trial is set for July 11. If convicted, she faces a minimum of five days in jail.

Richie’s rep did not return repeated calls for comment.

Guess we’ll find out next week at her trial if a confirmed pregnancy will have any bearing on how her trial turns out.
