Michelle Williams posed for Elle Magazine’s April 2008 issue in the weeks before the death of her long-time lover and baby daddy, Heath Ledger. The photos are now available along with an interview in Elle.

I’m not crazy about this photo shoot. It looks thrown together without any real theme. The black and whites look washed out. Her only accessory is a band aid on her arm. The shadows and light just aren’t working for me … but to each their own.

Michelle Williams is said to be devastated by the news of her former lover’s death. She has been filming in Sweden and left there to fly back to New York as soon as news reached her. It is thought that their daughter, Mathilda is traveling with her.

Autopsy results this morning were inconclusive and will not be completed until toxicology results can be completed which will take approximately ten days. It has been reported that Heath had been suffering from both pneumonia and insomnia and it is generally believed that his death may have been the result of him mixing medications or accidentally overdosing on sleeping medication.

US Weekly has confirmed that Heath Ledger and Michelle Williams have officially split.

A source close to the couple tells Us that Heath and Michelle “quietly and amicably split a few weeks ago.”

“The relationship had been rocky recently. They tried very hard to make it work but finally decided to separate. They just grew apart.”

The couple, who live in Brooklyn, NY and have a daughter, Mathilda, 23 months, met on the set of Brokeback Mountain in 2004.

“They have a beautiful daughter and they are both committed to being great parents.”

Reps for the couple could not be reached.

But seriously though, why do really good looking actors have to dress like they are homeless and make themselves look so scruffy and not-hot? Heath! Shave, get a hair cut, comb your hair, do some crunches. You look too good for this!

Oh - and too bad the ‘marriage’ (unconfirmed that there ever was one) didn’t work out - big surprise. /sarcasm.
