You’ve come to the right place.
If you are going to make a movie about the life of Queen Elizabeth I, who else could you get to play the role of the Tudor Queen but Cate Blanchett? No one else could do it, of course. Not after her Oscar winning performance as the Queen in Elizabeth I.
At first Blanchett wasn’t interested in reprising her break out role, but after reading the script decided she would. The first movie (1998) focused on the young Queen and her early reign. The new movie, Elizabeth: The Golden Age, focuses on an older Elizabeth I and her relationship with adventurer Sir Walter Raleigh.
Really, she is just fantastic in that role. I can’t imagine anyone else playing the part convincingly at all after her Elizabeth I performance. I think she’s one of the greatest actresses of our time.
